What is Society Dog
Society Dog promotes the socialization of dogs and creates communities of responsible dog lovers that enjoy unusually fun events with their pets.
Society Dog was "whelped" in Silicon Valley where many successful ventures originate. It involves a group of dogs of all breeds, creeds and color and their dog-loving people who enjoy getting together for regularly scheduled group dog walks and unique special events. Society Dog has chosen to share its "formula for success" in hopes of creating a nation of well-socialized dogs and spreading the camaraderie that comes when you share this passion with others.
All responsible dog owners are invited to join the Society Dog pack. The goal is to join people nationwide through our website. Ideally, we hope to support more packs in getting together to socialize and enjoy special events with their pets, but even if you're a "lone wolf", so to speak, the benefits of the online community are really something to bark about!
Do I have to register?
For or the enjoyment and safety of our 'pack', if you wish to participate in Yap Fest, dog walks and other events, we ask that you to complete the registration form for basic membership and read and agree to the terms of participation.
Participants of the human type must be at least 18 years of age to attend walks and events unless otherwise noted.
Registration is not required to enjoy the Society Dog website. Members and Non-members are welcome to browse the features of our website, and perhaps purchase products in the Society Dog Store.

How do I sign up?
To participate in the dog walks and other events we ask that you complete the registration form. For the safety and enjoyment of the "Pack", everyone must read and agree to the the "SOCIETY DOG TERMS OF EVENT PARTICIPATION". You must agree to these terms when registering online. Or you may print a copy, sign, date it and bring it with you to your first outing with Society Dog.
After registering with us, just show up at any regularly scheduled dog walk or check the event calendar for event information and make your reservations as indicated. Feel free to call the Yelp Line at 408-671-3417 if you have questions before attending.
Dogs must have current vaccinations and be of a non-aggressive nature. Unaltered dogs are allowed by permission only from the Alphadog. No Retractable Leashes, Please!
Why aren't retractable leashes allowed?
We have found retractable leashes to be a safety hazard at our walks and events. They are trip-hazards to others, tend to cause entanglement, and are especially hard to see in the dark on our evening walks. Please "play it safe" and observe this important safety rule!
What if I have never been socialized?
Dogs should be exposed to many different people and put into many different situations early in life, although trainers do say it's never too late. One of the goals of Society Dog is to provide a safe environment to socialize with other dogs and people.
However, we would like all puppies to be complete with their shots (usually at 4 mos. of age) before they join the group. If you are an older dog and have shown problems in social settings in the past, you may want to consult an animal behaviorist as well as consulting our resident advice dog at 'Ask Trevor' before attending a Society Dog event.
Is Society Dog a singles club?
Most of our dogs are single and many single people have enjoyed meeting one another through Society Dog. The organization, however, is opened to all dogs and all people (married or single) over the age of 18. Plans for regularly scheduled "Yappy Hours" are in the planning stages currently which should provide even more opportunities for dogs with singles to meet.
Can my kids (the human type) come with me?
Everyone of the human type must be at least 18 for insurance purposes, unless otherwise noted in our special events section.
Are unaltered dogs allowed?
Unaltered male or female dogs are allowed only by permission. Consult with the Alphadog or
Yelp-line 408-671-3417 before attending
Can Senior Dogs Participate?
Senior dogs are certainly encouraged to attend all events. The walks may be a bit strenuous for some, but we hope you will give it a try. Society Dog is currently trying to gather a group of senior dogs to walk at the 'tail-end' of our dog walks. If you are interested, contact the Alphadog and spread the word. Perhaps we'll build a community of senior dogs!
I don't have a dog, but I love dogs! Can I take part in your events?
Yes! It's understandable that all dog lovers for a variety of reasons do not necessarily have a dog. Society Dog members enjoy sharing the love. We hope dog lovers of all kinds will join us for our walks and/or special events.
